How to Capture FSX Screenshots in JPEG format

Your are flying your favorite flight simulator X airplane over a wonderful place on a very nice sunset, want to capture this "magical" moment and share it with your friends... how can you do it? keep reading.

The solution is pretty easy if you follow these steps.

1.- Hit "S" key to rotate view until you have a good one, use arrows keys to position the point of view as desired.

2.- Hit "V" key that is the default Flight Simulator X key to capture images.

3.- Minimize FSX and go to folder "My Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files".

4.- Sort folder by date and "Right Click" on the latest BMP file, then select open with... MS Paint

5.- Once the BMP image is opened on MS Paint, just choose to save it as JPG format.

6.- Go to your favorite website and upload it, for this tutorial I'm uploading it to SurClaro.com FSX Screenshots section that also has a FSX screenshots contest :)

Click on the "Browse..." button, go to My Pictures\Flight Simulator X files folder and select your JPG screenshot, enter a good Media Name and Description, and Click Upload button.

Wait until the admin approve your contribution and go to Flight Simulator X screenshots section to view it published.

FAI Sailplane World Grand Prix Championship Final in Chile Andes

Only the 15 best representatives of the world who arrived on Jan. 2 to Vitacura, and into the skies over the Andes Mountains and provide a real air show, in what is the final of the third FAI world championship Grand Prix.

The event, which runs for eight days, will bring together the best competitors in gliding from nine countries, seven of them foreigners.
In the competition, aircraft-grade 15 meters-will plan at speeds up to 300 km / hour and at altitudes over 3,000 meters on a path established, covering a range of 400 to 600 kilometers, which will walk in the shortest time possible.

But this is not the first time that Chile is hosting a tournament of this discipline. In January he held the sixth round of the championship and now the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) named the country to carry out its end.

Arturo Diez, general manager of Vitacura Aviators Club, explained that Chile was chosen because of favorable weather conditions that the country possesses. The Gliders Grand Prix final started at 14.00 January 2 and runs until the 9th of this month.

Glider Soaring on Flight Simulator X

Fly gliders is a fun undergo, and FSX has added features that now allow us to fly gliders is some realistic waye. Keep reading to learn how to fly a sailplane in Flight Sim X.

Go to in game's "Free Flight" by selecting it on the main menu.

Select the glider you want to fly.

Select the airfield were you want to depart and hit Fly now.

Once airplane and scenery is loaded hit Ctrl + Shift + Y keys simoultaneously, this will "call" the tow plane.

After a few seconds you will feel tow plane starting the take off run, once reach hundred feets above the runway, hit the G key to retract the landing gear.

Keep your glider behind and a little over the tow plane flight path at all times.

Once you reach 1500 feet above the groud you can hit the Shift + Y key combination to release tow airplane rope.

In order to keep flying you have to maintain over sunny areas and objective structures, as thermals (hot air ascending) are belike to be over these areas, and fastness the glider adrift.

If your glider is equiped with a variometer you will hear some beeps, high pitched and fast beeps indicates your plane is being elevated by upward air flow, higher the pitch and faster the beeps indicates stronger level of ascentional forces. If it drifts too low, start a shallow dive until the variometer beep pitch raises backwards up.

When you are willing to land, ask ATC for landing clearance, point your plane on the landing pattern to your airfield, once in "with the wind" pattern hit G key to extend the landing gear. You must use the speed brakes and flaps to put your airplane under the correct glide path and speeds.

These procedures will let you fly gliders and have a good time, but with the inherent game limitations, you will not be able to soar on ridges and with more realistics thermal environment. On my next article I will explain you how to fly gliders under realisting soar environments, including rigde soaring.
